TIME FOR A GIANT REBELLION |
|
This
weeks New York Toy Fair was to be a time for not only Star Wars
fans but collectors of all kinds form across the globe to salivate over images
and reports of new products for us to yearn for in the months to come.
Unfortunately for
Gentle Giant Collectors the forecast has turned very very dark. It seems
there will be restrictions (or as GG call them "fun & great opportunities') on
2007 items.
It seems, at this stage at least, that Gentle Giant will limit production
runs and distribution location on five (yes...5) Clone Commander mini-Busts, an
Animated Maquette and a Bust-up 2-packs. To say this decision 'UTTERLY
DISGUSTS US' here at Mousedroid would be a gross understatement. Review
the
Gentle Giant Press Release, and
what our forum members are saying on this
short-sighted gimmick in our Forum Section. Then take action and
Contact
Gentle Giant Direct to loudly voice your concerns.
Take a stand...NOW (Thanks to Rebelscum for the image)
A huge thank you
and kudos the the folks at
The Private
Universe (UK) and
AllTroops.com (USA) for standing up by repeating our cry to arms. Oddly
enough the Major US Star Wars sites are staying well clear of this issue??? And here is
what a Gentle Giant Rep (Jewel Morson) posted in the Feedback thread ...
"Due to the great number of requests we have received over the last few
years; we listened to the wishes of our collectors and as a result Gentle Giant
Ltd. is offering more exclusives to our collectors. We also received countless
requests from the UK fan base to have a presence at their shows, so this year we
will be participating in the Forbidden Planet Show in London, England.
As always, Gentle Giant Ltd. will set aside quantities of all show exclusives
to be offered through our website after the shows have been completed. The
edition sizes for the show exclusive Clone Commanders have not been determined
at this time. We will take all your comments and suggestions into consideration
before we announce our final edition sizes.
The 500 Clone Commander box sets are being offered towards the later part of
the year for a couple of reasons; We need to have all the show exclusives
completed to include in the boxed set and the last show Gentle Giant Ltd. will
be attending for 2007 may not be until late August or possibly into September. In the spirit of Star Wars' 30th Anniversary of The New Hope; Gentle Giant
Ltd. is celebrating Star Wars as a whole to include the Extended Universe
characters as well as all the Star Wars' prequels.
We will make every effort to ensure the fair distribution of the show
exclusives. We hope we have answered some of your questions. Please feel free to
contact
Customer Service
for additional information." |

GREAT NEWS FOR STAR WARS INSIDER FANS |
|
With
the recent announcement on the
Official Star Wars site regarding the decision to move the Star Wars Insider
Publication to
Titan Publishing we approached the great folks at Titan Publishing, to get
the answers on how the Insider & Hyperspace split will affect subscriptions for
local fans of both the Star Wars Insider (USA) and the Star Wars
Magazine (UK). here are the Answers;
1) Will Australian’s still be able to subscribe to the Star Wars Insider (USA
version)? If so, thru what means (internet, websites, etc)?
Yes, Australian’s will still be able to subscribe to the
US version of Star Wars Insider. You’ll be able to place orders on the internet
through the Titan Magazines website – this has not yet been set up so
stay tuned.
2) Will the UK version and the USA version now be month by month identical in
content, print material and paper quality? The new US Star
Wars Insider will be of the same print quality as the existing Insider magazine
– however, we will be using a new printer so the paper will be slightly
different. The content will be the same.
3) Will issue numbers be continued for the Star Wars Insider US version? Or the
UK magazine number be aligned to the US version? Issue
numbers will be continued for the Star Wars Insider US version – the UK magazine
will remain completely separate.
4) Will Titan Publishing be handling the Fan Kit mail outs?
No, Titan Publishing won’t be handling the fan kit mail
outs – this will remain with Hyperspace.
5) Will Australia fans be able to subscribe to either/both the USA and UK
versions of the Star Wars Insider magazine thru the Titan website?
Australians can already order a subscription to the UK version of the magazine
at www.titanmagazines.co.uk. And,
as mentioned before, they will soon be able to subscribe to the US version on
the Titan website too – although this will be on the US site
www.titanmagazines.com! |

SURPRISE...WE'RE HERE !!! FINAL 22
SAGA FIGURES ARRIVE |
|
Last
year we saw them sitting in a warehouse waiting patiently to be sent out and now
they have finally arrived. The count down to the end of the Saga Collection and
the start of the 30th Anniversary Collection (TAC) Starts with Repaint &
Recard Wave #1. Featuring 10 carded figures of Saga
Clones,
Droids and
Warriors, this wave
is sure to be in demand with army builders across the country.
In
a full case you will get Sith Training Darth Maul, Chewbacca with Electronic
C-3PO, Kit Fisto, Holographic Clone Commander Cody, Clone Trooper (442nd
Siege Battalion x2), R5-J2, Clone Trooper (Fifth Fleet Security
x2), Clone Trooper
Sergeant, Super Battle Droid, & Battle Droids Twin pack. And if you
think that was enough figures for this month, then hold onto your credit
cards.....
Because
the final 12 figures are also here in Australia. Repaint &
Recard Wave #2, has 7
more figures; Holographic Obi-Wan Kenobi, Commander Appo, Elite Corps Clone
Trooper, R4-K5 (Vader's Astromech), Padmé Amidala ,
Combat Engineer Trooper, & Yarael Poof. And seeing as how Australia does not
have any Wal-Mart outlet we also get the Wal-Mart
exclusive figures in the same case.
That's
right. 5 US retailer exclusives here in Oz; Aurra Sing (Bespin), Kitik Keed'kak,
Kabe & Nabrun Leids, Labria, & R4-M6 (Windu's Astromech). One month...22 carded

Honestly, none of this could have been accomplished without the
support of fellow Star Wars fans. As a "thank you" to those who love the Legion,
501st.com has posted a new contest called "501st Encounters." This is a
