What is your most memorable moment in costume:
God there have been quite a few from meeting Dave Prowse, Peter Mayhew, Kenny
Baker and quite a few other Star Wars star’, but the one that stands out the
most was when Percy TS-1268 (TAG Executive Officer) visited Ronald McDonald
House.
There was one child who was in a wheel
chair and didn’t look very well at all, he could hardly sit up, he had the hood
of his jacket hiding his face. When he tried to take pics of us he could only
just lift one arm up to take them. After we had changed out of costume Percy and
I sat down for a short chat with him it actually ended up being over an hour. By
the time we were going home he was sitting up in his wheel chair, he was
laughing smiling and talking up a storm.
On the way home it actually hit me that we
had done something really special and that was for a while we had got a very
sick child to forget about his condition and laugh and smile all because we put
on Star wars costume and spent a little time talking to him. To see him chance
from what he was like when we got there to what he was like when we left is
something I will never forget.
How difficult is it to get started:
It is not too hard, if you would like to join just send me an email and I will
start you on the path to the Darkside. Then visit our website www.501tag.com and
join our forum and ask heaps of questions. It would also be a good idea to visit
the main 501st website www.501st.com and read our club charter this will give
you an idea of how the 501st operates.
Most difficult component to make or
source?
The most difficult part of my costume Tie Fighter Pilot to source was the hoses
I’m kind of a perfectionist and spent months searching for the same hoses used
in the film until I stumbled across them.
What is your function in TAG:
I am the Commanding Officer of the Garrison, the following are few of the
responsibilities of a Garrison CO.
(1) Organize all 501st Legion events taking place within the geographical
territory of his/her Garrison proper, or delegate garrison members to
organize/coordinate specific events.
(2) Represent Garrison members in the Legion Council where club policy is
discussed and voted on organize his/her Garrison by appointing an administrative
staff to handle the Garrison website, logo creation, public relations,
communication, and enforcement of club and Garrison rules
(3) Perform duties in a professional and level-headed manner befitting an
officer
Where do you see TAG heading in terms
of the future after Episode III?
I can only see us getting bigger and better, some people might see Episode 3 as
the end of an era but I see it as the beginning of a new future for the 501st
and the TAG.
